Salary Range: Minimum $39,585.29- Maximum $39,585.29

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support an NIH-funded research project designed to help understand the immunological response to SARS-CoV-2 and risk for severe COVID-19. The successful candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. Norman Kleiman in the Environmental Health Sciences department at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Subject to business needs, we may support flexible and hybrid work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process.

Responsibilities

Maintaining and updating human subject contact lists (15%)

Maintaining and updating various demographic/medical records for human research studies (5%)

Organizing and maintaining records for follow-up (20%)

Scheduling subject visits and follow-up (20%)

Organizing and maintaining specimens in freezers (10%)

Maintaining accurate records and databases of subjects, samples, supplies, and equipment (10%)

Scheduling and preparing samples for shipment (10%)

Attending and participating in weekly lab meetings (5%)

Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalency certificate. Technical training or equivalency and at least 6 months related laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Excel, RedCap, and/or Qualtrics, database management software preferred.
