SUMMARY

The purpose of the Juvenile Justice Clinician position is to assist in building a therapeutic environment for the youth in the program in order to ensure safety and stability. This position provides individual and/or group therapy, school advocacy, life skills training and educational & therapeutic group activities as defined by client needs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


  • Maintain an active caseload of up to 5-10 clients.
  • Enter client information into Orbis Youth Assessment Screening Instrument (YASI) system within 72 hours of intake.
  • Accurately screen and assess the youth’s needs at admission and routine intervals
  • Collaborate and network with law enforcement, probation, employers, family members, schools, health providers and any other providers involved in the client’s service planning.
  • Create and maintain Individual Treatment Plan as identified through screening documentation and on-going determination of youth needs.
  • Assist in the planning of cultural, educational and/or social outings, for the purposes of the individual case/treatment plan.
  • Serve as group facilitator for evidence-based curriculums.
  • Address individual youth and group behaviors using motivational interviewing and de-escalation skills.
  • Provide information to the Program Coordinator and Juvenile Justice Case Manager relevant to any unaddressed, perceived client needs as part of on-going assessment of referred youth.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of clients during all programming hours.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Complete incident reports regarding client behaviors and other program related incidents before 9 am the following morning.
  • Prepare and submit all paperwork accurately and within the prescribed timeline.
  • Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position. Complete on-going training as designated by program requirements.


WORK HOURS

Willing to work varying hours based on the need of the program. Hours may include evenings and weekends at any of the AMHW Reporting Centers.

CARE COORDINATION

Individuals in this position may have a leadership or shared role in coordinating care for clients within the program and a specific geographic area.

TRAUMA INFORMED CARE

Ensure that all employees are using a trauma informed approach to all of their work duties that include the “5 S’s”. This approach sets a high priority for staff and client:

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree (MA/MS/MSW) required. Previous experience working with at risk/ juvenile justice involved youth preferred.
