Title: Inventory Control Specialist

Location: Broussard, LA

We specialize in multiple areas of the value chain:

  • Field employees work to calibrate equipment, program and automate systems, and perform instrumentation and equipment work on client sites.
  • Lab employees take samples that have been collected in the field and run a multitude of tests for environmental factors and quality of the product. We also have a blending lab that works to create the chemicals that other companies use to calibrate their analytical equipment.
  • The Production Analytics team audits existing field structures and design, balances our client’s entire systems, and allocates royalties to maximize profits.

SPL is expanding our footprint internationally in the production, midstream, finished products, and environmental markets. We are also focused on developing industry-leading automation and data analytics tools that will help our customers ensure the integrity of their data.

Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist must be team oriented, proactive and goal driven. This position will maintain the organizations inventory, ordering and supplying necessary items while maintaining accurate records of all procurements. Will use independence and judgment to recognize and resolve problems within established policies and procedures and is accountable for the quality, timeliness and accuracy of own work.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Docs;
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures;
  • Proficient keyboarding skills;
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors;
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations;
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems required;
  • Forklift operator certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles;
  • Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items;
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery;
  • Provides inventory reports to purchasing and inventory control manager;
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors;
  • Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made;
  • Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager;
  • Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory;
  • Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits;
  • Operates forklift truck when necessary;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Work Schedule:

This position will work 8 hours, Monday – Friday in the Broussard, LA office. This position is subject to overtime and weekend availability.
