RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Domestic Relations

OBJECTIVE: To process incoming cases of applicants seeking child and/or spousal support, to cooperate with other states to enforce and establish cases, and to oversee paternity establishment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/TRAINING:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.

B. WORK EXPERIENCE:

1. Two to three years’ experience in data processing or background in Domestic Relations preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Must be able to speak and understand the English language as well as follow oral and written instruction.

2. Must possess initiative and problem-solving skills.

3. Must possess the flexibility to function both independently and efficiently with clients, staff, and others.

4. Must maintain personal integrity.

5. Must possess the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines.

6. Must maintain confidentiality in regards to client information and records.

7. Must possess the technical knowledge of operating personal computers, typewriters, and other office equipment as necessary with accuracy and reasonable speed.

8. Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records and files.

9. Must possess the ability to complete required reports.

10. Must possess effective interviewing skills.

11. Must possess the overall knowledge of Domestic Relations policies and procedures and the ability to effectively carry them out.

12. Must possess some bookkeeping knowledge and the ability to perform math calculations, process invoices, and maintain records of expenditures.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk intermittently throughout the workday with frequent twisting, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, and lifting/carrying objects weighing a maximum of 10 pounds necessary to carry out essential job duties.

2. Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers/hands to simple movements of feet/legs/torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.

3. Must demonstrate emotional stability.

4. Must be able to pass a background check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTAKE COORDINATOR:

1. Responds to inquiries regarding child and/or spousal support processes and procedures.

2. Schedules and interviews potential applicants for child and/or spousal support.

3. Interviews and assists alleged fathers with the appropriate paperwork to file for establishment of paternity only.

4. Inputs data into the computer regarding child and/or spousal support as well as other necessary administrative data.

5. Completes complaint and application for support services, as well as intracounty and interstate support petitions and associated paperwork.

6. Obtains verification of parties’ case specific data: address, date of birth, social security number, status of resolution of paternity, and/or employer.

7. Utilizes additional resources necessary to locate and properly serve non-custodial and alleged parents.

8. Interacts with other court-related offices both inside and outside of Pennsylvania.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PATERNITY COORDINATOR:

1. Receives files from the Conference Officer to schedule for genetic testing.

2. Generates, mails, or has personally served orders to appear for testing to all involved parties.

3. Contacts DNA Diagnostics Center, Inc. for any additional information/assistance needed in scheduling out of county/state parties.

4. Contacts lab subcontractor with scheduled date and time for the DNA testing.

5. Prepares testing kit with pertinent party and case information.

6. Obtains signed consent for testing, positively identifies each individual to be tested, and obtains appropriate signatures for chain of custody of DNA samples.

7. Collects samples and schedules pick up of paternity kits.

8. Receives and processes genetic test results, completes appropriate steps to generate order including or excluding the alleged father, and notifies all parties of paternity results.

9. Schedules confirmed cases for conference and direct testing invoices for payment.

10. Dockets, scans, and files all required and necessary documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as Notary for Domestic Relations Office.

2. Works with the Department of Public Welfare regarding TANF clients as necessary.

3. Attends court hearings, meetings, and training sessions as required.

4. Operates computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment as needed.

5. Performs other job-related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Works indoors in adequate work space, lighting, temperatures, and ventilation.

2. Average indoor and outdoor exposure to noise, stress, and disruptions.

3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
