About this position:
Under the general supervision of the Revenue Cycle or Patient Financial Services Supervisor, Manager or LSC Revenue Cycle Director, accurately bills third party payers and provides outstanding customer service to patients, health center staff and other customers.
Hours of work may be anywhere from 7am-7pm. Monday - Friday
Currently the position is remote work from home but will move to a hybrid work-remote model. Internet service is required.
The hourly wage for this position is $15.69.
What you’ll be doing:
- Accurately bills third party payers in order to receive maximum reimbursement. Processes bills, follows-up on denied claims, and reconciles third party accounting information. Responds to health center and patient inquiries regarding third party billings and coverage.
- Accurately bills third party payers to receive maximum reimbursement by following all department procedures and processes.
- Checks proof of eligibility in accordance with agency and third party protocols.
- Provides information by responding to inquiries from patients, health center staff, and insurance companies in accordance with the affiliate customer service standards.
- Provides pre-verification services to health centers and patients as requested.
- Ensures bills are processed in a timely fashion by running reports and correcting electronic bill submissions.
- Follows-up on all incorrect, denied, and unpaid claims and reconciles third party accounting information.
- Prepares audit reports by running, collecting, and summarizing information to verify accuracy of claims prior to submittal.
- Posts third party payments to accounts, as well as contractual allowances. Transfers balances to patient responsibility as appropriate. Requests authorization from the supervisor to write-off balances.
- Completes work within authorized time to assure compliance with departmental standards. Consistently meets quality and quantity standards.
- Keeps current on all billing and benefit changes for third party insurance carriers.
- Works collaboratively with the RCO or PFS /LSC team to maximize and facilitate efficient and accurate billing.
- Adhere to the PPGNHAIK code of conduct and all policies, procedures and protocols.
- Demonstrate and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
- Take action to support the affiliate’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Support and act in accordance with the PPGNHAIK customer service standards.
- Value continuous learning and seek ongoing training and development.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of medical insurance experience. Knowledge of medical insurance companies and their billing procedures and basic knowledge of coordination of payments and diagnosis codes required.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records
