Position Overview

Installation Riggers will report directly to Lead Installation Riggers and Project Manager of Rigging Installations. Position will perform specific rigging installation activities in accordance with PSAV Rigging Installation Standards. They have a shared responsibility in upholding safety and quality standards. Our various point construction methods require great attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, as well as great physical stamina. Installation Riggers will perform the majority of their functions at height using safety harnesses to navigate through a ceiling to a work area or by using rope access to climb to a work area when ceilings do not allow direct access. The position is highly team oriented requiring individuals to rely on others for the safety of their well being. Installation Riggers will be responsible for the safety and efficiency of their work in order to maintain project quality, schedule, and budget.


Key Job Responsibilities

Installation Rigging

Installation Riggers will be able to use a variety of tools and construction equipment to build rigging hang-points using a variety of beam clamp designs and concrete epoxy anchors. Will have the ability to work long hours at height in a harness. Installation Riggers must be familiar with a variety of installation procedures and standards including; the setup and use of all required tools on the ground and at heights, safely gain access to point location while carrying a variety of tools, use tied off tools at height to install points, fully visually inspect each point part while installing, mark point areas for future inspections, convey final information on point type to Project Manager of Rigging Installations, ensure final point and hatch end product meets all PSAV standards, clean and pack tools and materials for shipping, clean and prepare ballroom for release to hotel and guests. They will install points as designed and engineered with a focus on overall safety and point construction. Position requires extensive travel.


Safety

Responsible for the safety of self, crew, general public and property in a variety of difficult work conditions including but not limited to; confined spaces, rope work at heights up to 240’, truss climbing or walking, use of medium weight power tools from rope or truss or beams at height, driving lifts through or around obstacles, use of heavy machinery on ground, a high degree of dust and dirt, etc. Responsible for maintaining a high standard of quality control ensuring that all installed rigging points meet PSAV’s exacting standards before any installed point is used as intended. Will share all knowledge of safety protocol with others while onsite.


Project Management

Position is responsible for tool and material collection and transfer from loading dock to ballrooms. They will be required to set up tools and prepare the job site for the installation including: organization of work space, point installation strategy and identifying and formulating solutions to potential obstructions under the direction of The Project Manager of Rigging Installations. Communicate any issues to Project Manager of Rigging Installations and appropriate team members.


Maintenance and Inspections

Ongoing visual inspection of all tools, hardware, and materials in use including personnel lifts. Escalate any problems with tools, hardware, or materials to the Project Manager of Rigging Installations. Installation Riggers are required to understand a variety of point construction methods. As such they are uniquely qualified to inspect all rigging points installed by PSAV or outside contractors. They will be available to the Rigging Inspection Team to conduct annual and “as-needed” inspections on installed rigging points.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a hotel environment that may be under construction and moderately quiet to noisy. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Must be able to work long hours at height in harness and work in a high degree of dust and dirt. Position requires extensive travel and will be required to adhere to PSAV’s travel policy. Working times may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance and conduct guidelines as defined by PSAV’s Team Member Guidebook and based on an individual hotel or a representation of hotels in that city or area.
