DEFENSEWERX (DWX) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that utilizes non-FAR based mechanisms to support an array of Federal Government partners and stakeholders in the interest of national security, defense, and intelligence. The company is headquartered in Niceville, FL and provides oversight to the Doolittle Institute in Niceville, FL in partnership with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory; SOFWERX in Tampa, FL in partnership with U.S. Special Operations Command; MGMWERX in Montgomery, AL in partnership with Air University; ERDCWERX in Vicksburg, MS in partnership with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center; the Cyber Fusion Innovation Center (CFIC) in Augusta, GA in partnership with U.S. Army Cyber Command, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology (DHS S&T) innovation hub, ICWERX innovation hub in partnership with the intelligence community, and the Nautilus innovation hub in Arlington, VA in partnership with U.S. Department of Navy Office of Naval Research (ONR) and NavalX Headquarters.

ROLE:

Serve as the Innovation Hub Director supporting the CFIC innovation hub under the Other Transaction Authority (OTA) and report to the DEFENSEWERX corporate leadership staff. This role is physically located in Augusta, Georgia.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Innovation Hub Director of will oversee an innovation environment supporting Army Cyber Command. Candidates will manage operating budgets, staffing, and projects related to the operations of the innovation hub. Candidates should have senior executive corporate and/or government experience, small business start-up experience managing profit & loss responsibilities with a successful history of experience in emerging research and collaboration that will compliment Innovation Hub programs. The ideal candidate will champion an entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative problem-solving, and bring deep experience working with industry, academia, U.S. defense, tech transfer, and innovative processes and technologies.

KEY TASKS

Planning

  • Creates annual operating plans that support strategic direction set by the DWX Corporate Headquarters and correlate with annual operating budgets
  • Collaborates with the government partner and DWX corporate staff to define and articulate the organization’s vision and to develop strategies for achieving the partner’s vision

Management

  • Promotes a culture that reflects the organization’s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity
  • Manages and develops team members and governs the innovation hub organization according to authorized HR personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations
  • Oversees the operations of the organization and manages its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

Financial Management

  • Develops annual budgets that support operating plans
  • Prudently manages the organizations resources within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations
  • Ensures staff practices all appropriate accounting procedures and reporting in compliance with DWX corporate policy and protocols and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

HR/People Management

  • Recruitment and contracting of company and project staff in coordination with corporate HQ and HR
  • Employee development, performance planning, and training in coordination with DWX corporate
  • Employment and compliance regulatory reporting and alignment of HR operations to DWX policies and standards

Marketing and PR:

  • Organize the availability of company members for media/PR events as necessary
  • Oversee content, production, partner approval, and distribution of all marketing and publicity materials (posters, program, flyers, mail outs, brochures, etc.)
  • Coordinate with government partner program manager(s) and public affairs officer(s) for any and all publicly-releasable material

Community Relationships:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative for the organization in alignment with government partner and DWX corporate policies and priorities
  • Assure that the organization and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
  • Actively advocate for the organization, its beliefs, and its programmatic efforts
  • Acts as a liaison between government partner program manager(s) and the innovation ecosystem and stakeholder community, building relationships that enable innovation hub and aligned government partner objectives

Fundraising:

  • Oversee staff in the timely submission of grant applications, contract renewals and extensions, cost and technical proposals, RFI and RFQ responses, and progress reports for funders

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • Ability to obtain active top secret clearance
  • Master’s degree or combination of lower degree with equivalent advanced professional, innovation, government/military, or consultative experience
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience leading and managing complex projects and people or commensurate combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with the U.S. government preferred

Pay: $120,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
