Reporting to the Human Resources Associate Director, the Onboarding Coordinator plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional onboarding experience for new hires joining Harris County Public Health (HCPH). This position works in coordination with multiple HCPH Offices/Departments, and other members of the team.

We are ideally seeking candidates that have are adaptive and can execute thoughtfully in an accelerated, and dynamic environment. A high degree of organization, communication and attention to detail is essential for the position, as well as a thorough knowledge of the department's established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organize the onboarding process to support new hires from acceptance to clearance
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to communicate offer request details
  • Coordinate preemployment testing (background checks, drug & alcohol screening)
  • Manually track and monitor onboarding process to ensure timely completion
  • Coordinate scheduling of orientation/training sessions with hiring managers
  • Generate work order tickets for Computer, Phone, and Software Access
  • Set up new hire record in PeopleSoft and update records based on HR transactions
  • Manages I9 process including I9 verification, reverification and Everify
  • Use Personnel Policies and Procedures to respond to new employee inquiries
  • Maintain paper/ digital personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
  • Initiate Day 1 communications and instructions
  • Document new hire issues and partner with the appropriate point of contact for resolution
  • Perform other administrative duties and assignments as required

Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams,PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and Adobe software

Experience:
  • At least one (1) year of experience in Human Resources
OR
  • At least three (3) years of Administrative Assistant experience
WITH
  • At least three (3) years of direct experience in a customer service environment

General Information

Location:
  • 1111 Fannin, 77002 (Remote work available after the first 90 days of continuous employment.
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
  • This is a fulltime position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5 pm. Others days and hours as necessary.


Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
