Do you enjoy helping new people get acclimated to an organization, and would you like to be part of an HR team that loves their work and the mission of the organization? Goodwill is hiring a full time HR Generalist at the Headquarters office in Cedar Rapids Iowa.

Goodwill’s HR team has the opportunity to onboard new team members in all kinds of jobs like retail, employment services, supported community living and day programs, an oil plant, and those are just a few.

This position will be part of a collaborative and fun HR team with the opportunity to:

  • Onboard all new team members, including facilitation of first day orientation to benefits, training, and other important resources, and will ensure important payroll and other orientation documents are processed properly.
  • Collaborate with the HR recruitment team to ensure the offer process for a new team member is smooth, from offer of employment, background check, pre hire forms, and set up for the first day.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, in supervising our HR Coordinator. Together these two positions ensure all documents connected to employment are stored and categorized correctly and that regular employment reports and queries are created and distributed when needed.
  • Partner with the HR team to ensure leave management documents and requests are responded to in a timely manner and are properly stored.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PHR preferred.
  • Three years of HR or directly related experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite required. Experience with UKG and query/report development preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including demonstrated desire to positively engage with new team members who may need assistance with technology.
  • A successful criminal, dependent/adult, and motor vehicle background check is required, including a valid driver's license and auto insurance.

The HR Generalist position has a starting wage between $22.35 and $24.59 an hour. The schedule will be 40 hours per week and the hours will typically be Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm. The position is primarily in person at our HQ office in Cedar Rapids, with flexibility for working from home 1-2 days per week. Apply online at www.workatgoodwill.com.
