GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, performance management, onboarding, offboarding, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The HR Generalist must be sensitive to business needs and employee goodwill.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, performance evaluations and aptitude exams and certifications.
2. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
3. Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
4. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation/payroll, benefits, and leave/FMLA; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations (including workman’s compensation); performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
5. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
6. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
7. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
8. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years human resource management experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to read, write, and speak using the English Language
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of HR experience in the Banking field.
SHRM/HRCI Certification
