Developmental Services Continuum, Inc. is a non-profit agency who provides support and services to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.

We have an opening for a House Manager in La Mesa, CA area. The House Manager is responsible for the supervision of Direct Support Staff performance, efficient operation of the home, ensuring quality service and advocacy of the residents.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand consumer rights to ensure an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all consumers in a safe, secure environment.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Consumer Services, supervise the day-to-day activities of Direct Support Staff.
  • Promote positive public relations with consumers, family members, visitors and regulatory agencies.
  • Attend all in-service training and conduct monthly house meetings for staff.
  • Purchase groceries and house supplies on-line and are available in the home according to the posted weekly menu.
  • Administer consumer medications as outlined by Agency protocol.
  • Schedule and accompany consumer to all medical appointments, ensure health care plans are in place and documentation is electronically recorded on Therap.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, bed-making, meal preparation, and cooking.
  • Maintain an Agency cell phone during scheduled shift, one to two times per week.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of Title 17, Title 22 regulations and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to see, talk, hear, walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing 50lbs or less repeatedly during the shift.
  • Ability to lawfully and safely drive an Agency vehicle.
  • Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Twenty-four months of experience providing direct services to persons with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
  • Supervisory experience (preferred)

Certifications/Licenses (preferred):

  • CPR and First Aid card or able to obtain within the first 30 days of employment
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Therap Electronic Record
  • Direct Support Professional I
  • Direct Support Professional II
  • Medication Administration Management
  • Professional Assault Crisis Training: Pro-ACT
  • ARF Administrator Certification

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Work with individuals who may be aggressive towards themselves or others. Implementation of hands-on-behavioral management strategies, as trained, may be needed daily.
  • Work involves significant amount of movement including the operation of an agency vehicle (in town and freeway driving) and movement of the consumers to and from the vehicle to the office, day programs, activities, work programs, clinics and community agencies.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible or varied schedule, overtime, weekends and holiday hours as necessary to meet operational and resident needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.30 - $20.00 per hour
