Job description
The Families Learning Together Program (FLT) is a research-based parenting and life skills program with the educational purpose of enhancing the ability of young and/or expecting parents to improve their child(ren)’s lives by completing a high school education, improving job readiness, gaining life and parenting skills, and increasing their knowledge of child development.
The FLT Math Teacher works cooperatively with the Program High School Liaison and Science teacher to provide math education to fulfill graduation requirements and meet students’ individual Education Plan.
FLT is a Vermont Agency of Education Approved Educational Program providing low classroom ratios and high levels of wrap around services.
Key Accountabilities
Program Responsibilities
· Develop instructional materials, daily strategies, and instructional goals based on the Vermont Standards and the requirements of the participant’s sending high school.
· Work in close collaboration with the program HS Liaison staff and in consultation with the area sending schools regarding participants’ academic needs, syllabi, and materials.
· Contribute to the FLT/Montshire Museum of Science (MMS) partnership by attending meetings and collaborating to the development of the STEM curriculum to benefit FLT students.
· Provide classroom instruction and individual assistance, according to the curriculum developed with FLT staff.
· Implement a variety of assessment, observation, and evaluation strategies to provide appropriate class and individual instructional goals and instructional materials for each FLT participant.
· Participate in development of students’ Education Plans and attend related team meetings when needed.
· Maintain accurate weekly attendance records.
· Prepare credit reports for inclusion in student transcripts on a quarterly basis.
· Identify and request program materials and supplies, as needed.
Staff and Team Responsibilities
· Attend monthly FLT Reflective Practice meetings.
· Attend monthly Teachers’ meetings.
· Collaborate with other FLT Staff to meet students’ needs.
· Collaborate with other FLT Staff for program planning.
Other
· Follow confidentiality guidelines concerning all families and providers.
· Represent agency in the community, and identifying community needs as they interface with the agency.
· Comply with TFP personnel Policies.
· Other duties as specified by supervisor.
Professional Development
· Participate in and attend relevant trainings as per The Family Place policies.

Position Requirements
· Ability to work efficiently, multi-task and set priorities with minimal direction.

· Demonstrated ability to work with teens and young adults.
· Knowledge and understanding of the impact of socio-economic adversity on learning and wellness.
· Knowledge and understanding of the impact of trauma on learning and wellness.
· Teaching experience at the high school level.
· Work/life experience with Families Learning Together target population.
· Current Vermont Secondary Education License preferred.
· 18 or more college credits in Math.
