Health and Safety Manager


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Health and Safety Manager, are to:


  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations;
  • Global and Regional directives as they relate to Occupational Safety and Occupational Health;
  • This compliance oversight also extends to multiple Service Contractors and 3rd Party Tenants;
  • Develop and maintain all applicable program related procedures by interpreting and evaluating government regulations, amendments and current interpretations as they might apply to the site;
  • Responsible for OSHA classification decisions, provides record keeping oversight and interactions with off site medical experts;
  • Responsible for overall effectiveness, compliance and performance of the industrial hygiene program for the site;
  • Responsible for the site Medical Surveillance program support and execution;
  • Ensure all elements of occupational safety, contractor safety, occupational health and industrial hygiene programs are well coordinated and that those responsible work together as effective and efficient team;
  • Optimize Safety & Health direct report s performance and development through mentoring, coaching, training, and recognition Interact with other key Bayer sites as well as regional and global HSE groups to share best practices, and influence the development of programs, policies and procedures;
  • Foster an effective and collaborative work environment Keep up with upcoming company and regulatory safety and health requirement changes and ensure plans are implemented to keep the Luling Site operations in compliance;
  • Ensure regulatory reports, etc. are submitted in an accurate and timely fashion Develop and monitor the Safety Management and Medical Services cost center budget.

Required Qualifications:


  • B. S. degree in Safety and Health or related degree;
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with all disciplines;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of state and federal health and safety regulations;
  • Ability to interface effectively with regulatory agencies is vital for success inthis role;
  • The ability to maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external customers and stakeholders is equally important;
  • Strong presentation and communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver training programs and reports to site employees and company officials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years Safety & Health experience in chemical or petrochemical industry;
  • 3 years people leadership.
