About the Role:

Reporting to the Consumer Banking President, the Home Lending Leader directs the Home Lending banking division and is responsible for Home Lending strategic planning which includes, but is not limited to, allocation of budget and headcount, development of guidelines, processes and procedures based upon company goals and objectives. They drive financial performance through profitable mortgage production, and has overall responsibility for the Home Lending Division, including Production, Fulfillment, Operations, Secondary and Loss Mitigation.
  • Responsible for strategic plan, review and recommend overall objectives, policies, and procedures for the Home Lending Division.
  • Direct the development and implementation of an overall Home Lending production and operations program, including ensuring policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are followed to safeguard the company assets and enable appropriate secondary marketing.
  • Develop concrete production strategy and tactical plan for all products and services. Develop the annual budget in support of Umpqua's goals. Oversee creation and maintenance of budget, goals, and incentive plans for the Home Lending division. Responsibility for achieving production results which meet or exceed the annual budget in all areas.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement a sustainable growth plan. Responsible for the management and oversight of all Home Lending division personnel. Manage performance to achieve desired results and delivery of outstanding customer service.
  • Stay informed of trends in the mortgage banking and financial industries to effectively anticipate the markets and opportunities, enabling orderly reaction to industry expansion and contraction cycles.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
  • Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.
  • Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
About You:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Preferably a master's degree in a related field of study.
  • 10+ years of relevant home lending experience and proven history of exceeding performance in developing and running a home lending division.
  • 7+ years of high-level management experience in home lending where leadership resulted in consistent performance and business growth.
  • Considerable experience in real estate, mortgage banking or finance industry and in-depth knowledge of marketing, selling, and mortgage compliance standards.
  • Extensive experience working in production team environment with a proven understanding of the importance of balancing production and asset quality.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank products.
  • Considerable experience developing and growing a division, setting goals and managing to a budget.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage customer relationships.
  • Expert knowledge of home lending policies, procedures, practices, and documentation.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related software packages such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences.
  • Considerable experience in real estate, mortgage banking or finance industry and in-depth knowledge of marketing, selling, and mortgage compliance standards.
  • Ability to travel frequently.

Our Benefits:

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $177,350.00 to $325,000.00 and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
