About The Role:

In this position you will have Client Markets leadership responsibility for the full spectrum of Medical Reinsurance products and services to ensure the optimization of economic and GAAP profit results. Responsibilities include business origination, service delivery in accordance with client behavioral segmentation and target markets, business and strategic planning, risk management and compliance controls and direct and/or indirect oversight of all cross functional support teams. Together with the Medical Products teams, the incumbent manages, steers and motivates the whole cross functional Medical team, with the goal of achieving the objectives set out in the business plan. The individual ensures consistent and strategic approach to the client in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantage for Swiss Re.


Client Focus:

Develops and maintains strategic dialogue with client key decision makers and key reinsurance intermediaries

Together with Head of Products develops and ensures execution of Medical strategy, aligning clients' strategic priorities with Swiss Re services and capabilities.

Drives consistent improvement of both Swiss Re market profile and client satisfaction/loyalty


Business Focus:

Develops new business solutions and opportunities; promotes the development of leading edge products and solutions

Steers and coordinates marketing activities for assigned clients

Defines financial plan, reviews results and performance metrics, escalates issues as necessary and provide illustration at earnings meetings

Ensures efficient resource allocation to secure top quality service to target clients


Leadership and Management:

Leads the development of Medical product offerings and capabilities

Drives commercial culture, agility and innovative thinking

Motivates and steers the client team by fostering open communication and exchange of creative ideas.

Ensures and promotes regular communication within and across client teams

Coordinates support of multi-disciplined team(s) across matrix to achieve objectives

Represent Swiss Re on external committees (ACLI, SIIA…)


Compliance and Controlling:

Ensures compliance with all Swiss Re guidelines, risk management controls, underwriting and pricing parameters, best practices as well as Code of Conduct

Ensures accuracy and reliability of financial reporting

Ensures that relevant Group Divisional and BU deadlines are met at all times

Monitor all budget and expenses allocations


About You:


Education Background:

University degree or equivalent required. Strong business component preferred.


Professional experience:

15 years of practice in insurance, reinsurance and/or managed care.

Direct management of staff and high level projects

Experience within various disciplines (e.g. actuarial, underwriting, sales, finance)

Knowledge of the Employer Stop Loss, HMO Reinsurance and Medicare Supplement insurance industry with an outlook for key trends, challenges, opportunities

Experience in originating new business and maintaining client relationships

Broad background encompassing two or more areas of responsibility within a multinational financial services organization is preferred.

Proven track record as successful sales leader and dealmaker will be strongly preferred.

For New York City/Armonk the estimated base salary range for this position is $188,000 to $331,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role within SVP qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
