Full Time Carpenter/Scenic Production Crew Job Description

Harbor playhouse seeks a full time Head Carpenter

Pay: Starting at $18 Hr. D.O.E.

Hours- Full time, 40 hours per week

Weekdays and weekends as needed

Position will be responsible for

-Performing scenic construction, painting and assembly projects assigned by the technical director

-Loading in and changing over scenic and technical elements for each production.

-Keeping the Scenic shop, work areas, and backstage areas clean and safe.

-Loading, unloading, scenic elements to and from warehouse

-Constructing/refurbishing stock set components

-Instruct and supervise volunteer and over-hire shop carpenters on build days and work calls.

-supervise tech crew during tech week when needed

Ideal candidates should have at least a year of scenic carpentry experience or hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in technical theater.

Candidates must possess the following skills/attributes:

-Ability to read scenic drawing and build plans.

-Knowledge of basic scenic carpentry techniques.

-Knowledge of basic scenic painting techniques

-Ability to safely lift 60+ pounds.

-Able to work on ladders and scaffold. Comfortable with working at heights.

-Experience with basic rigging and operation of counterweight rigging systems preferred

-Good leadership skills and ability to delegate tasks to other crew and volunteers

-Must have good communication skills and be a team player

-Metal Working and welding skills is a plus

-Scenic art and sculpture skills is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
