GSRP Lead Teacher & Site Director
Job description
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing and instructing 4-year olds, based on needs of each child, and the requirements of the GSRP grant. The teacher is also responsible for maintaining program quality and documentation as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual, Preschool Program Quality Assessment (PQA), and DHS licensing guidelines.
Full Time/Full Year Position
$35,000-$45,000 annually; amount based on experience and education
Position Responsibilities
- Document and track child attendance daily
- Document and track child meal attendance daily
- Create and implement a daily routine that encompasses all requirements of the daily routine per the GSRP implementation manual
- Implement family-style meal settings with children for all meals during the school day
- Build relationships with children and their families within the program
- Plan, prepare and host, at minimum, three Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings annually
- Plan, prepare and implement lesson plans in accordance to the Creative Curriculum
- Observe, document and assess child’s development in alignment with Teaching Strategies GOLD and are completed in accordance with the Jackson County ISD GSRP calendar
- Actively engage with children by being present physically, emotionally, and socially
- Participate in Data Café events, JCISD trainings, company training events and other trainings/events as assigned
- Upload and organize required enrollment and program documents within the Child Plus system
- Work closely with assigned Early Childhood Specialist to set goals to improve child outcomes
- Attend and facilitate Home Visits and Parent/Teacher conferences quarterly
- Site Director Duties – School Year
- Ensure the health and safety guidelines set forth by the office Licensing and Regulatory Affairs are adhered to at all times in tandem with the Executive Director of Tuition
- Develop, share and implement work schedule, making daily adjustments as needed
- Respond to parent, staff and community phone calls and emails, (not during GSRP hours)
- Monitor Procare communications and photos daily (not during GSRP hours)
- Assisting teaching staff in areas needed (not during GSRP hours)
- Review staff lesson plans and newsletters weekly (not during GSRP hours)
- Assisting in classrooms when short-staffed (not during GSRP hours)
- Developing and fostering relationships with families
- Providing parent training on topics of interest
- Facilitating staff meetings as needed
- Tracking and reporting hours worked by employees for payroll purposes
- Assisting teaching teams with planning and executing family and community events
- Attending community meetings as assigned
- Providing support to GSRP staff and ensuring GSRP implementation is to fidelity
- All other duties as assigned
Site Director Duties – Summer Program
- All Site Director duties as mentioned above
- Enrollment meetings with families during summer months.
- Provided tours of the center to interested families
- Interview, hire and provide orientation for employees
Requirements:
Either degree is accepted:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a specialization in preschool
teaching
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement
- Two (2) years of leading a team, preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational time management, and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Collaborative, positive, “can do” attitude
- Enthusiasm to proactively identify problems and find solutions
- Must be able to interact with all levels of employees and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
