GHD is growing! Our U.S. West offices have a strong backlog of projects. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to work from our Honolulu, Hawaii’i office location. This position offers great variety of projects and the opportunity to develop in a mechanical engineering role. In this role you would assist in delivering projects under our U.S. Federal Sector contracts, delivering quality, safety, schedule and scope against budget.
This position supports clients in Hawai’i, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and other Pacific island locations.

Responsibilities of the position will include, but be not limited to:
- Interacting with other members of project engineering teams and contractors.
- Assisting with performing engineering calculations to assess system and equipment characteristics.
- Assisting with preparing project plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Participating in construction support activities.
- Working with other team members to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinating the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members
- Providing creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities.
- Some experience with the various stages of the project life-cycle, including assisting in preparing feasibility studies, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, developing budgetary construction cost estimates, and providing construction support.
- Developing Autocad skills; experience with Revit is considered a plus.
- Some experience in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems (HVAC), plumbing, building energy management systems, and central plants with HVAC.
- Some knowledge of fire protection systems.
- Experience working in multi-discipline teams – e.g. architects, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation engineers.
- Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- General computer knowledge
- Ability to work within a team of technical staff
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Able and willing to travel to project job sites and client offices as needed.
- High ethical standards.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an ABET accredited school in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
- Registered Engineer-in-Training desired.
- Relocation is not being offered with this position at this time
- Must be a US Citizen
