Job description
What would it feel like to be part of a company guided by engaged and empowered employee-owners? To have the encouragement to run with innovative ideas? To know your opinion is valued and your voice is heard? Wouldn't you love to work in an atmosphere of transparency, respect, and accountability?
Then you belong at SEH.
SEH is currently searching for a talented Graduate Engineer to join our West Region MEP team!
At SEH, our Mechanical and Electrical engineering teams deliver safe, reliable, sustainable, cost-effective and socially responsible engineering solutions for our clients across the country. They know the mechanical and electrical systems are the backbone of a highly functional facility. You’ll work on everything from schools, hospitals, apartment complexes, and hotels, to fire stations, homes, and small tenant improvements. The team focuses on projects ranging from simple studies and site assessments to complete construction design and energy optimization.
Selling Points:
- Work from Anywhere: The Denver, CO based team is committed to fully remote collaboration and uses a suite of digital tools to ensure everyone feels engaged and included, no matter where they open their laptop.
- Growing Team: The West Region MEP team is only three years old and growing. You have the opportunity to help shape their future and create something new.
- Variety of Projects: The team believes the best solutions are found when an engineer is exposed to a wide variety of projects and can cross-pollinate ideas from one application to another. Specialization is a choice, not a requirement.
What you will be doing:
- Apply mechanical engineering principles and practices to various HVAC and plumbing designs for buildings and facilities.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses to assess existing systems and select new systems for optimal performance.
- Develop construction plans in Revit as well as specifications and cost estimates under the supervision of professional engineers.
- Perform site visits to verify existing conditions and visually assess systems for efficacy and remaining design life.
- Prepare technical reports detailing engineering analyses, code studies, system assessments, recommended remediation efforts, energy use and optimization, and life cycle cost analysis.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, architects, surveyors and scientists to provide the best solutions and designs for our clients.
- Interact with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors professionally, ethically, and collaboratively.
- Promote stewardship of the communities, environment, and individuals you impact with your work.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in SEH's Employee Handbook.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Previous coursework or experience with mechanical engineering projects.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in team environments and the ability to express ideas effectively to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and ask for assistance and guidance when necessary.
- Ability to travel occasionally for team meetings, client consultations, on-site project visits, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exams (FE / EIT).
- LEED Certification (GA or AP).
- Knowledge or previous experience with Revit or CAD software.
- Understanding of ASHRAE, NFPA, and ICC codes and standards.
