Girls on the Run Bexar County programs provide a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living which includes an introduction to and education on important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect, while training for a 5K event. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and harness the inner strength they possess. Our mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind, while reducing the many risks they face today.

Position Summary

The Girls on the Run Bexar County Program and Events Coordinator must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grade. This role provides pivotal support to the program and 5Ks, collaborating with the team to effectively deliver the program, support coaches, and coordinate events throughout the season. This role will also contribute to volunteer management and logistics in partnership with the 5K team.


Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:


Coach Support

  • Assist with coach and site recruitment.
  • Help to manage and coach teams as needed.
  • Manage volunteer database recruitment campaigns including applications, background checks, training and CPR dates, and other requirements.
  • Manage coach training including sign-ups, check-ins, and follow-ups. Assist at coach training events and info nights as needed.
  • Plan, organize, and manage CPR and First Aid Training.

Program and 5K Coordination

  • Assist with materials management, inventory, and ordering.
  • Help with materials assembly throughout the season before each supply pickup or delivery and attend materials pickup or delivery events, mid-season meeting events, and materials return events.
  • Assist 5K Director in managing 5K volunteer recruitment and assignments (communications, background checks, )
  • Respond to all potential 5K volunteer inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Organize 5K supplies and materials.

Other Event Coordination

  • Connect with the community at local outreach events.
  • Assist in organizing volunteers to represent our organization at events and ensure volunteers have the needed materials and training to speak about the organization.
  • Maintain council’s website template, updating recruitment and event campaigns.
  • Support e-communications, including newsletters and event invitations.

General Team Responsibilities & Other Related Duties

  • Assist the team with special projects.
  • Attend outreach and fundraising events.
  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings, coming prepared and engaging in collective problem-solving.
  • Other duties as required.

Position is hybrid, work-from-home and in-office as required. Varied schedule - during programming months (August - May), particularly weekdays between 3pm - 6pm and weekend hours as required. Non-programming months (June - July) include some evenings, early mornings and/or weekends as required.


Qualities + Qualifications

  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission
  • Proven project management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Cultural competence to work with, teach, and lead groups of diverse adults and children in respectful, equitable, and inclusive ways; commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive environment in all spaces
  • Self-motivated, capable of working well independently and collectively with limited supervision
  • Computer competence, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, data management programs, CRM systems, Google applications, Dropbox, and email
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions
  • Ability to travel independently throughout Bexar, Kendall, and Comal counties using a personal vehicle for site visits or trainings/professional development, and Girls on the Run events
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
  • Comfortable in a hybrid work environment, including remote and in-person work at our office in San Antonio
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
  • Experience with youth or wellness nonprofits a plus

Compensation and Benefits

This is an exempt, full-time with a salary range of $38,000-$40,000. Girls on the Run of Bexar County offers a company laptop and phone, mileage reimbursement, 403(b) retirement plan, and ample PTO.
