Select Sires Inc. | United States, OH, Plain City Select Sires, Inc. seeks a Genomic Testing Administrator. This individual will be responsible for all dairy genetic testing needs of Select Sires, Inc. This includes sample accumulation, laboratory submissions, database administration, and data retrieval and delivery to various Select Sires personnel and customers. The Genomic Testing Administrator will work closely with genotyping labs, the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding (CDCB) and other industry organizations to obtain and provide accurate genetic information used for animal procurement and marketing decisions. Qualified candidates must be detail-oriented and technology savvy. The Genomic Testing Administrator position is based in Plain City, Ohio. The position will report to the Dairy Development Data Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Specific duties and responsibilities of a Genomic Testing Administrator include, but are not limited to,Develop a deep understanding of genomic testing process, from sample submission to delivery of resultsEstablish working relationship with genotyping laboratories and industry organizationsServe as intermediary for Sire Department team and key client herds in tracking of DNA samples, conflict resolution, and recording and reporting of resultsUtilize internal and industry databases to identify testing needs and maintain accurate genetic test results for domestic and international marketsCollaborate with the Select Sires IT department in dataflow and storage of genetic informationBecome a resource for the Select Sires federation regarding DNA testing services for dairy cattle and CDCB genomic evaluation proceduresPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Great verbal and written communication skillsExceptional attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesCapability to prioritize tasksCapacity to function well in a high-paced environmentAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; willingness to learn additional computing skills as neededA working knowledge of dairy cattle genetics, genomic testing services and genomic evaluationsWillingness to domestically travel on occasion Reliable means of transportation to report to work on-timeThe Genomic Testing Administrator’s work schedule is Monday through Friday. Typical office hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.Select Sires, Inc. is a drug-free workplace.
