Requirements:POSITION SUMMARY
Building on its innovative service model and established network of partners, STRIVE Future Leaders is a multi-state and multi-site initiative funded by the US Department of Labor (USDOL) designed to support justice-impacted young adults' successful entry into local workforce growth industries. Over 36 months, STRIVE Atlanta will provide targeted services to young adults between the ages of 18 to 24 who are at risk for entry into the justice system and have a history of being impacted by the justice system.
The Future Leaders Case Manager will provide guidance and supportive services informed by positive youth development and motivational interviewing practices to assigned program participants. The case manager must foster and emphasize a young adult-centered environment to successfully transition program participants into the workforce and sector-based training opportunities. The Case Manager is expected to address any potential barriers to program success and develop nuanced program interventions in collaboration with Future Leaders colleagues and program leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support and counseling services grounded in positive youth development practices to enhance participant self esteem and self-confidence.
- Maintain case notes, files, and client database as specified by STRIVE.
- Co-design and facilitate with Future Leaders staff specialized workshops and pro-social activities for young adults as part of the program experiences.
- Refer assigned program participants to community-based organizations (e.g., housing services, long-term counseling, child-care, substance use counseling, mental health counseling, legal support services) to reduce the potential barrier to employment and overall engagement in program services.
- Provide retention services for one year, ensuring that participants stay on their career plan and prepare for potential career and educational advancement.
Other Duties:
- Work with key STRIVE ATL personnel focused on STRIVE program operations to ensure the success of program participants.
- Obtains ongoing training in counseling techniques and social services in general as provided by the Program Director, and external training sessions as budget allows.
- Works with other case path team members to maintain and update the agency's resource/referral directory.
- Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
- Experience with Learning Management System (LMS) and or knowledge management platforms, high level of digital literacy, and comfort troubleshooting and coaching young adults to access STRIVE training material.
- Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or three years of young adult case management experience.
- At least two years of experience working for an organization(s) dedicated to serving young adults or direct services provided to youth and young adults (ages 18-24) is required.
- Experience working with justice impacted young adults or young adults who are at the pre-entry of justice involvement is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of young adults’ development needs are required.
- Must have some knowledge of barriers to employment due to involvement within the justice system at large.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of public and nonprofit partners is a must.
- Must maintain integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Intermediate in Microsoft Office or Google Application, Windows applications, internet, and email required. Experience with cloud-based software such as Apricot or Salesforce is helpful.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish/Other) is helpful but not required.
