Performs general housekeeping and minor building maintenance for the 500 N. Beckford location. Takes care of parking lot and grounds by collecting debris, and other related duties. This position is responsible for housekeeping and minor building maintenance for the 500 N. Beckford location which houses up to 145 DSS Staff. Collects and disposes of trash from offices. This worker maintains the parking lot and grounds to ensure the safety of DSS staff and its customers. Employees in this class perform manual labor involving a variety of buildings custodial and maintenance tasks. Work involves the use of a variety of tools and light equipment. Work includes cleaning floors, windows, bathrooms, replacing simple bulbs and paper supplies, building security and routine grounds maintenance. Employees may also serve as couriers for part of their duties. The employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals and human body fluids and thus is subject to OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through observation and inspection to determine thoroughness in carrying out assigned duties. Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies:
Cleaning of the building which includes but not limited to restrooms, break rooms, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming of floors, keeping the parking lot and areas surrounding the building clean. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KSA - Some knowledge of the application of trade skills to the duties assigned.
Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used in performing work assignments.
Ability to follow oral and written work assignments.
Must be able to lift 75 or more pounds.
Familiar with OSHA Regulations.
Applicant must have a Valid Driver's License.
Background Check and Drug Screening will be conducted. Minimum Training and Experience - Completion of high school with 2 years of custodial/cleaning experience.
One year of experience in the performance of a variety of manual tasks.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical strength sufficient to move relatively heavy objects and to work at heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time. Disclaimer
