Job Description

Job Summary

The Front Desk Associate reports to Club General Manager and will be responsible for creating a positive member experience by providing a superior level of customer service to Planet Fitness members, prospective members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Front Desk Tasks

  • Greet members/guests upon entering and leaving club
  • Make eye contact with all members/guests
  • Punch in all members as they enter club
  • Collect past due amounts from a red screen member
  • Cancel, freeze or charge day fee as necessary
  • Enter notes in system for members with balances
  • Ring up memberships or merchandise in register
  • Answer telephone calls correctly as outlined in Planet Fitness Staff manual
  • Follow Info calls procedures as explained in Planet Fitness manual
  • Adhere to the 10/5 Rule (make eye contact within 10ft, greet within 5ft.)
  • Keep Recap sheets neat, organized and accurate
  • Be prepared to explain the day’s current totals to management at any given time
  • Do restroom checks every 30 minutes

Required General Tasks

  • Make every effort to sell memberships to all walk-in customers
  • Give tours to interested walk-in using the 5-station process
  • Enforce Lunk Alarm Policy by ringing alarm if you hear grunting or dropping/slamming of weights
  • Explain and set up members for training, hydromassage, PE at PF and other services
  • Keep Front Desk tidy at all times
  • Ensure all areas of gym look clean and presentable
  • Wipe down tanning beds, hydro beds and all service areas immediately after each use
  • Ensure that the restroom area is clean and tidy (using gloves, wipe down spotty mirrors and wet sink tops, pick up any debris or paper off floors, close locker doors, pick up any hair or trash from shower and changing room stalls, close shower doors)
  • Keep up with all sanitation and disinfecting procedures during shift
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

· 2 years of exceptional customer service skills in a retail or hospitality environment; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member’s expectations.

· Basic computer proficiency.

· A passion for fitness and health.

· Upbeat and positive attitude

· Punctuality and reliability are a must.

· Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve.

· Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.

· High School diploma/GED equivalent required.

· Must be 18 years of age or older.

Physical Demands

· Continual standing and walking during shift.

· Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.

· Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
