Food Service Coordinator
Lansing, MI
Full Time | $20.00/hour

Develops menus and orders food. Prepares, cooks, and services food according to menu. Cleans work area, utensils and equipment and may clean dishes and eating utensils. Coordinates and assists kitchen staff in preparing and cooking of foods. Takes inventory and orders stock based upon upcoming needs and shortages.
Responsibilities:
- Confers with Director as required/needed. Reviews status/progress of kitchen to receive feedback on problems/issues. Recommends measures to improve culinary methods and food quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and/or use of facilities and equipment to increase efficiency.
- Oversees and coordinates kitchen staff in food preparation.
- Orders food supplies. Compares inventory to weekly menu. Checks prices with local vendors. Places orders with chosen vendor.
- Participates in preparation of food utilizing standard kitchen equipment and methods. Prepares foods by washing, peeling, cutting; baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, etc. Measures and mixes ingredients to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces and casseroles. Monitors thermostat controls to regulate ovens, broilers, grills, etc. Carves meats and portions food on serving plates.
- Participates in preparation of food utilizing standard kitchen equipment and methods. - Assesses overall condition and/or needs of kitchen and equipment. Completes work orders for repair to assure health, secure environment. Maintains kitchen in accordance with current licensing rules and regulations including health, fire and safety.
- Washes pots, pans, utensils, dishes, chopping blocks and other equipment by hand or dishwasher.
- Assist in managing grant relationships related to program. Completes associated grant reporting. Ensure data for kitchen is accurate and timely.
- Performs other duties related to the essential duties of the position and within the individual’s capabilities as assigned by one’s supervisor.
Qualifications:
- HS/GED and 2 years related work experience.
