We are looking to employ, train, and develop individuals for several career opportunities in a variety of positions. Koetter Fire Protection of Austin is looking for individuals interested in developing careers in life safety services. Koetter’s range of available positions include apprentices (entry-level), licensed technicians (intermediate-level), and foremen, inspectors, designers, and sales (advanced-level).

Job Description and Duties:

  • Install wet, dry, standpipe, fire pump, hydrants, and pre-action sprinkler systems per NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 24 standards as well as national, state, and local codes.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, reports, and other documentation promptly.
  • Follow troubleshooting guidelines and refer to technical/parts manuals. Refer to bulletins, modification notices, etc. to diagnose & repair equipment or systems.
  • Accurately document system installation red lines.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending training classes when offered.
  • Proficient with computers and software.
  • Ability to lift, move, and operate safely, equipment and tools weighing 100 plus pounds.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working in ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Read, comprehend, and apply information such as shop drawings, diagrams, schematics, submittals, software/systems, programs, and operation/product manuals.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, customer and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude always.
  • Demonstrate cooperation, teamwork, and a commitment to professional and organizational development.
  • Mentor, train and develop new employees to the trade.

Requirements for our Fitter/Foreman:

  • Experience with Sprinkler Systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire sprinkler system components.
  • Working knowledge of fire sprinkler system drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Wet, Dry, Pre-action and Deluge Sprinkler Systems.
  • Knowledge of design and layout requirements for the fire sprinkler system.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize all tools pertaining to installation and repairs of wet, dry, and pre-action systems.
  • Applicable knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 24.
  • Follow established company quality control procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude always.
  • Willingness to learn Koetter culture and keep up with trade training
  • Report to and follow all instruction given by Supervisor and Scheduler.
  • Report to assigned work sites on or before required start times.
  • Follow all company and customer protocols, procedures, and paperwork daily.
  • Organizational and Time Management skills.
  • Work independently with minimal direction.
  • Positive Customer Skills.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills (English).
  • Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Be able to read construction documents.
  • General math skills.
  • Knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Job Type:

  • Full-time (2 positions available)
  • Hourly or salary dependent on qualifications, experience, and certifications ($19.00 - $25.00/hour)

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Insurable (No high risk) as determined by company vehicle insurance carrier
  • OSHA 10 or 30 a strong plus
  • Backflow license a strong plus
  • Fire Hydrant Certification a strong plus
  • Fire Pump installation and testing experience a strong plus
  • Knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 24 codes
  • Clean Background Check
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Pass periodical Drug Screen
  • Security Check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
