About The Position
Reporting to the Festival Producer, the
Festival Venue Operations Manager oversees the screening venue staff during the 2023 Seattle International Film Festival. The Festival Venue Operations Manager will enable the Festival Venue Managers to achieve operational success by providing them with comprehensive training, resources, necessary supplies/equipment, and regular communication.
This position primarily manages the Festival Venue Managers and House Coordinators, while also providing training and administrative support for Festival Volunteer Venue Crew.
Dates of Employment: Full time, March 6 - June 2, 2022
Reports to: Festival Producer
Primary Supervisory Responsibilities: Festival House Managers
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Train and manage 15+ Festival Venue Managers, maintaining and updating schedule as needed.
- Act as primary contact for all Festival Venue Manager communication.
- Build and/or update staff and volunteer training materials and operational manuals to reflect SIFF Policy and Procedure and Customer Service Standards.
- Create and execute training for Festival Venue Managers, Festival Volunteer House Coordinators, and Festival Volunteer Venue Crew
- Interview and hire House Coordinators in accordance with SIFF hiring standards. Maintain House Coordinator schedule and update as needed
- Provide onsite coaching and guidance, acting as a resource for all screening venue staff and volunteers
- Cover venue shifts, as needed
- Assist with programs outside normal theater operations, such as development activations, etc
- Conduct, collect, and compile wrap reports from Festival Venue Managers and House Coordinators.
- Occasionally provide support for Venue Box Office staff
- Complete wrap report by scheduled due date.
- Complete all assigned staff and volunteer evaluations by scheduled due date.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2-3 years experience in theater operations or festivals is required
- 2-3 years hiring, managing, and coaching staff and volunteers is required
- 1-2 years experience scheduling staff and/or volunteers required
- Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice
Desired
- 1-2 years experience with ticketing systems preferred
- 1-2 years experience creating and running trainings for staff/volunteers preferred
- Knowledge of Google Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc) preferred
- Ability to perform well in a stressful situation
- Ability to stay focused and ensure completion of tasks
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse and changing/rotating team
- Ability to ensure a pleasant patron, volunteer, and staff experience
- Experience using Filemaker Pro/Ticketing systems a plus
- Excellent delegation skills when working with both staff & volunteers.
- Ability to work well in high stress situations
- Ability to work with diverse personalities.

Pay Rate: Hourly. $23/hr
Work Environment: This temporary position will work onsite at our Seattle office and at specified screening and event venues.
