Faculty Professor Assistant - Full-Time

The Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Public Health is recruiting a full-time, tenure-stream faculty member at the Assistant Professor level.

The ideal candidate will have the training and significant success in research and evaluation, teaching and service, and will join a highly multidisciplinary team studying approaches designed to improve community-level health. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the behavioral sciences and/or public health with active peer-reviewed research and track record at the early or mid-career level; and will have extensive experience in cutting-edge quantitative, social epidemiologic methods essential to assessing and impacting racial inequities in substance use-related harms such as using synthetic controls to assess the impacts of randomized controlled trials of social policies and spatial analyses. Qualified candidates will exhibit a significant knowledge base of current and emerging public health issues, health equity and inclusion, and social and behavioral aspects, including exploring the intersection of substance use policies (e.g., alcohol, cannabis, opioids) and their impacts on substance use trends and related harms such as traffic fatalities and in measuring and examining the influence of heterogeneity and variance of substance use policies across city and state jurisdictions to better understand their impact and understanding the impacts of these policies on racial equity. The selected candidate will develop and teach an advanced methods course with a focus on novel and rigorous approaches. A history of writing for publication is also required.
