Liberty Lake Day Camp is a summer day camp and event facility located in Bordentown, NJ, 35 minutes north of Philadelphia, and 25 minutes south of Princeton.

Position: Facility Maintenance Worker – Seasonal Work (April through November)

Classification: Non-Exempt / Hourly – Part Time

General Function and Essential Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance Workers perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of Liberty Lake Day camp grounds and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping. Facility Maintenance Workers also perform maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and tools and makes minor repairs (within demonstrated capability) as directed, plus general handy-man type work, and plain old labor involved in running a 60 acre facility.

1. Perform all tasks common to maintain a clean facility and activity areas throughout the day, including camp common areas, bathrooms, maintenance shop, and storage areas.

2. Perform cleaning and sanitizing activities using proper protective coverings, such as masks and disposable gloves

3. Perform tasks with for pool chemical or other facility required chemicals with proper personal protective equipment and following strict instructions of supervisors

4. Performs tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes, including by not limited to transplanting, pruning, and trimming, trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers

5. Performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance by mowing lawns with riding or push mowers; trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, sidewalks, and buildings; weeding, by hand or utilizing proper tools and equipment

6. Performs camp wide general maintenance and repairs by installing, removing, repairing, and maintaining landscape lighting, signs, cables, chains, barricades, gates, bicycle racks, posts, fences, and rock walls; and repairing streets, parking lots, athletic fields, courts, etc as applicable.

7. Removes trash and debris from public areas by regularly inspecting grounds for debris; raking, sweeping, and bagging leaves, debris, dirt and trash from customer use areas and transporting the trash to designated central collection points on a daily basis.

8. Assists in preventing accidents resulting from snow- or ice-covered walkways by removing mowing decks and installing snow removal equipment on riding mowers and tractors; operating snow blowers, tractors or mowers with blades and using shovels to remove snow and spread sand and salt on snow- or ice-covered surfaces.

9. Safely operates light vehicles such as pick-up trucks, tractors, or riding mowers and portable power tools and equipment such as saws, grass trimmers, snow/leaf blowers, sprayers, paint machines and other groundskeeping equipment by following operator instructions, and wearing appropriate safety items such as goggles, gloves, or other appropriate protective clothing.

10. Ensures that maintenance equipment are operational by performing routine and preventative maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and machines within reasonable capabilities.

11. Replaces and disposes of light bulbs in interior building settings using ladders, lifts, or other tools.

12. Performs painting work in the preparation, patching, finishing, and maintaining of building structures, walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment.

13. Performs delivery services by identifying supplies, materials, and equipment to be delivered from invoices or order forms, safely loading items on the delivery vehicle, safeguarding items during transit, delivering items to the correct department, and obtaining the appropriate signature for the receipt of the delivered items.

14. Performs custodial services following established procedures and guidelines in offices, lavatories, restrooms, etc. including their furnishings, using manual tools and powered machines.

15. Performs minor maintenance work using hand and power tools by making carpentry repairs such as nailing down loose boards, or replacing worn or rotten floor boards, performing minor plumbing repairs, and replacing defective electrical switches, light bulbs, fuses, and fluorescent ballasts.

16. Quickly identify and address any facility related safety issues encountered, communicating with supervisors when necessary.

17. Proper use of facility gators/golf carts – such as safe operation and driving at slow speeds

18. Perform end of day activities: Cleaning out/off gators, Clean off/putting away any dirty tools and equipment properly.

19. Contributes to the overall success of the camp by performing all other related duties as assigned.

Required qualifications / characteristics

• Ability and desire to work outside in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 75 pounds without issues or health concerns.
• Ability to stand, sit, squat, twist, and work on feet all day
• Experience with power tools, hand tools, lawn equipment
• Fluent in English (read, speak, write) in order to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner. Written and oral communication skills is a must.
• Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
• Dependable. Follow set time schedules.
• Ability to interact positively with co-workers and patrons.
• Availability on some weekends is a plus.

The location for this role is at our facility, which is located in Mansfield Township (Columbus), with a Bordentown address.
