The Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) is the largest research unit on the Norman campus with over $24 million in annual expenditures and employs more than 200 researchers, graduate and undergraduate students. Located at the National Weather Center, CIWRO is at the heart of weather research in Norman. We are looking for a dynamic and energetic person to be our next Executive Director of Finance and Operations.

Program Manager for the NOAA cooperative agreement

Be point of contact for NOAA agreement.Budget for individual projects
Understand themes and what projects work on each theme
Manage RPPR for cooperative agreement
Work with NOAA on policies

Overall management of all finances related to the cooperative agreement

Administrative lead for CIWRO

Supervise administrative staff (Admin Support Specialist, Senior HR Coordinator, Marketing/Communications Coordinator, student employees)

Manage all CIWRO budgets (NONSP, SUAUX, MISCA) and all Director’s grants

Review accuracy of expenditure funding reports

Manage CIWRO office space

Prepare reports for Director

Recommend and enact policies/procedures for greater efficiency of CIWRO

Participate as a member of the CIWRO Executive Committee to review performance evaluations and promotion packages

Supervise Contract/Grant Manager for the College of Atmospheric & Geographic Sciences Grant Management Center (AGSGMC)

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field, AND:

  • 36 months experience in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field to include 12 months managerial or supervisory experience

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the bachelor's Degree for a total of 84 months related experience.

Skills:

  • Understanding of accounting concepts, internal controls and possession of strong analytical skills
  • Experience with Peoplesoft and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to direct the work of subordinate staff
  • Ability to make recommendations to enhance operations
  • Ability to prioritize workload and organize workflow within the department delegating tasks when appropriate
  • Self starter

Pay: $80,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year
