Texas Research Institute (TRI) Austin is a small business with a 40+ year history of innovative applied research and development for government and commercial customers. TRI seeks a Entry level Chemist/Technician.

A successful applicant will be able to follow existing procedures to set up test/measurement apparatus and conduct tests, and inspections. The ability to document recorded test data following defined methods and procedures is required, as well as documentation and presentation of recorded data in a prescribed format. Candidate must be a self-starting, creative, innovative, diligent, and organized team player with good people skills.

Requirements:

Experience working in a chemistry laboratory environment is required.

Education needed to succeed in this position is an Associate degree or greater in Chemistry, Sciences, or equivalent work experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail, with good organization and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot and develop solutions
  • Ability to organize time and manage multiples tasks to meet daily testing needs.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team, understand chemical and instrument processes, be self-motivated, and willing to develop technical knowledge and understanding of the projects.
  • Ability to maintain chemical and sample inventory.
  • Perform routine maintenance, routine troubleshooting procedures, and cleaning procedures including washing reusable glassware.
  • Perform routine duties to conduct laboratory tests following SOPs
  • Operate and maintain laboratory or other equipment such as vacuum pumps, environmental chambers, as required to execute assigned tasks.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties.
  • Must have experience working in a laboratory environment and practicing safe laboratory procedures.
