Position Title: Engineering Manager

Reports To: General Manager Primary Team: Engineering

Engineering Manager Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the Appleton Engineering department as well as overseeing the successful completion of product development projects. This position is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, control, and evaluation of engineering activities within the department. This role will have direct supervision of 3-4 Appleton engineers.

Engineering Manager Key Responsibilities:

· This is a working manager position that leads projects, supports production as well as oversees product development projects. This individual will also coach and evaluate performance of engineering team members.

· Ensures that design and documentation policies are followed.

· In regular consultation with management, the Engineering Manager identifies engineering feasibility, leads the design team to develop products strictly within identified pricing/costing and performance parameters.

· Develops design and product specifications.

· Identify new and multiple suppliers for key components.

· Supports high-profile projects aimed at driving revenue and EBITDA growth to ensure they meet all stage gate timelines and commitments.

· Advises management of any developments which may affect profit, scheduling, costs, or customer expectations.

· Provide design guidance and leadership to Appleton interdepartmental teams and engineering team members.

· Manage the integration of controls on engineering and production projects.

· Provide project leadership/management on engineering and production projects.

· Ensures the timely completion of engineering and production projects.

· Works with team members to develop the information necessary for accurately and efficiently supporting sales quotes.

· Proactively seek out process and procedure improvements within engineering department as well as offer suggestions for outside departments.

· Maintains electronic drawing files and the organization of these files in accordance with company standards.

· Assigns part numbers as required.

· Ability to work with competence on all drawings and within ERP system.

· Adheres to company policies and procedures.

· Other duties, as assigned.

Engineering Manager Requirements/Experience:

· Engineering B.S. or equivalent. Electrical or mechanical discipline.

· 5+ years of managing engineering and product development projects.

· Skilled in the use of CAD drafting programs.

· Understanding of and experience in manufacturing ERP system required. Experience with Syteline a plus.

· Familiarity with various quality systems.

· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong problem-solving capabilities and management skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Skilled at technical writing.

· Understanding of OSHA safety requirements for machinery.

· Positive attitude and people skills.
