This role supports the mission for life without limits for people with disabilities by building great relationships with Clients, the community, and potential employers that develop into a collaborative partnership that places Clients into excellent job opportunities. This role assists in assessments, job development, placement, job coaching, and other supports for those with disabilities. This role serves as an advocate in the community to help foster competitive employment and fully integrated job sites for persons with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Establish sound, positive relationship with the community and clients by marketing the program to funders, families, school personnel, and potential clients.
- Foster and maintain meaningful relationships with potential, current, and past employers/volunteer sites that demonstrate the passionate commitment of the Agency to its mission of life without limits for those with disabilities.
- Complete direct services which may include discovery, exploration, job preparation, job development, coaching and long-term supports.
- Find appropriate employment opportunities for individuals supported in the program and make placements accordingly.
- Develop thorough, complete, and professional written plans for program participants to facilitate long-term placement and/or career advancement of individuals on appropriate job sites.
- Develop professional outcomes, goals, client resumes, cover letters, and other internal and external communications.
- Coordinate, arrange for, and/or provide supports needed at the job sites to minimize job losses and meet minimum contact requirements.
- Ensure that services, documentation, support plans, data collection and progress summaries are completed accurately and within designated time frames both by participating in these processes and through the monitoring of client case files.
- Proactively foster client and employer satisfaction by providing job coaching and follow-along support to program participants, which may include physical or mechanical assistance and may require extended periods of standing or walking for up to 8 consecutive hours.
MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
- High School Diploma or GED with one year experience or training in working with persons with developmental disabilities.
- Good working knowledge of computers, software applications and databases.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to relate to a diverse group of individuals.
- Understanding of learning and developmental needs of the disabled with the ability to be flexible and altar strategies based on the needs of the individual.
- Reliable Transportation and provide vehicle insurance that meets minimum requirements for the State of Missouri.
- Ability to pass background screening
- Ability to sit, stand, bend and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 100 lbs. using proper lifting and acceptable transfer techniques for the disabled.
