Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic
Job description
I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic and electrical production and facility equipment according to (industry) company standards of safety and quality. Additionally, to supports an environment of continuous improvement by making and implementing suggestions.
REPORTS To: Facility Supervisor
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs troubleshooting, replacement, and repair of electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Configure and program process instrumentation and VFD’s (variable frequency drive)
- Determine equipment power requirements and maintain proper loading on all power distribution system
- Uses conduit benders, hand tools, multimeters, amp probes, and voltage testing equipment.
- Interpret and work from electrical prints and schematics.
- Complies with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs.
- Use mobile equipment as necessary (forklift, man-lift, electric cart).
- Ability to travel to vendors in the local area if needed
- Other duties as assigned.
III. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Formal training in electrical theory
- Knowledge of electrical wiring and machine control wiring
- Problem Analysis and problem solving
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- 5 years’ experience as an industrial electrician
- Able to use tools such as meters and voltage testing equipment
- Able to read and interpret schematics
- Able to read, understand and interpret CAD generated drawings/blue prints.
- Able to navigate CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) as well as write follow up work
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos/emails; must possess ability to write simple correspondence/emails and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the management group and other employees of the organization.
IV. POST-HIRE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Use of UpKeep (inhouse CMMS)
- Environmental training applicable to the job
- Safety training for applicable equipment
- Job instructional training
- Quality system familiarization
V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear; and work at heights. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
