Job description
Duties assigned will be expected to be performed at a journeyman electrician level. Installs modify, repair and maintain electrical systems up to 480 volts in, on or around university buildings.

Required:
Ability to instruct and lead semi-skilled or unskilled assistants in performance of job duties.
A working knowledge of local and national electrical codes and regulations.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics and one-line diagrams.
Ability to set up and use a variety of meters, test equipment and tools perhaps unique to the electrical field (i.e., voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, meggars, hydraulic benders, knockout punches, etc.).
Completion of a trade school or journeyman apprenticeship program with a minimum 5 years or the equivalent experience.
Ability to give and follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred:
Must possess a valid California driver license.
Class B license preferred for boom truck operation. Electrical maintenance and construction experience in a university or research type environment
Special Conditions Required:
Must be able to wear a respirator Must wear safety glasses and safety shoes.
Must work on high scaffolds, ladders, lifts and confined spaces (tunnels/manholes).
Must be willing to work nights, overtime, on-call, and weekends.
