ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an Estimator with our Hunt Electric team, you will leverage the following skills and experience necessary to prepare detailed and accurate change orders including takeoffs and pricing, cost estimates for competitive bids, negotiated contracts, and design-build (IPD) projects. Successful Estimators will be self-motivated, analytical and ready to think outside the box in our growing Mission Critical team! This position will be based at a large jobsite in Springfield, NE.
- Accurately estimate labor, materials, and administrative costs for data center and mission critical pursuits.
- Utilize estimating software to properly estimate project.
- Assist the estimate review process.
- Maintain detailed records of estimate revisions and other supporting documents as needed, to serve as back-up for open book projects.
- Assist in the development of project estimate templates to ensure bids are prepared in accordance with bid forms that accompany RFPs.
- Solicitation of third-party products and services – develop scopes of work and/or bid leveling documents used in soliciting quotes for third-party products and services. Capable of leveling bidders to ensure complete scopes of work and accurate cost information.
- Build estimate templates specific to the requirements of each RFP.
- Complete bid forms and prepare necessary supporting documentation.
- Creation of scope of work documents which accurately describe the inclusions, assumptions and clarifications used in preparing bid estimates. Ideal candidate possesses strong oral and written communications skills.
- Accurately interpret the design drawings submitted by engineers.
- Review all contract documents that accompany RFPs and have a functional understanding of the expectations set forth by such documents to ensure estimates are prepared accordingly in a manner that reflects all contract documents.
- Collaborate with the business development leader and/or division leadership to develop a bid strategy specific to each opportunity.
- Support the presentation of electrical estimates in settings such as internal review meetings, Owner/Contractor project scope review meeting, and project interviews.
- Interface with designers, project managers, general foreman and others to resolve issues throughout the project.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) year degree in electrical construction, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of electrical estimating experience.
- Prior data center/mission critical experience is not required but is a plus.
- Experience with computerized electrical estimating software; experience with Accubid or Enterprise is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a manner that ensures timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
- Ability to work in both an autonomous environment, as well as part of a larger team.
- Experience with Bluebeam software for estimating and construction-related purposes.
- Strong mathematical skills coupled with strong Microsoft Office skills (with an emphasis on Excel) are mandatory requirements for this position.
- Ability to understand/interpret electrical plans and specifications.

- This position requires the ability to lift files and open file cabinets.
- Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.
