THOR Solutions is actively seeking a junior to mid-level Electrical Engineer / Computer Engineer to support Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Navigation & Electrical (C4N&E) activities at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL. The engineer will support the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA)’s systems engineering efforts. An ideal candidate will possess experience supporting systems engineering efforts for a major NAVSEA, NAVAIR, Navy, or DoD equivalent program.

The candidate’s responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:

  • Technically support the Government in conducting requirements definition and analysis, electrical design, design implementation, design integration, and verification and validation activities.
  • Conduct analysis of alternatives for potential solutions to system issues and enhancements to provide recommendations for Government approval.
  • Work on Ultra High Frequency (UHF) /Very High Frequency (VHF) /High Frequency (HF) communication systems.
  • Ensure external interfaces match the specification, including voltage level and timing.
  • Simulate the design at various levels to include Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling for all system and subsystem components.
  • Ensure temporary installations and design corrections do not compromise the safety of the system, craft, or any personnel.
  • Participate in reverse engineering efforts.
  • Develop or analyze Printed Circuit Board designs.
  • Develop embedded systems using Versa Module Europa (VME), CompaqPCI, PC-104, and small form factor black box architectures.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must already possess an active or interim SECRET security clearance, and maintain it for the duration of employment.

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar discipline from an accredited institution.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant professional experience, preferably obtained in a US Navy/DoD environment.
  • An ideal candidate will possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • An ideal candidate will have knowledge of/experience with most of the following:
    • Maritime Navigation requirements
    • Network systems or Modbus and Modbus Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
    • MIL-STD-1553C interface specifications
    • Controller Area Network bus (CANbus)
    • Data Acquisition Units (DAU)
    • The application of sensor technologies in military applications
    • The latest embedded architectures used by industry
    • Power distribution
    • 2D/3D CAD software skills
    • Applied systems engineering in the application of marine and aircraft state-of-the art systems engineering disciplines
    • Developing embedded systems that meet environmental requirements for military use.
  • Proficiency with common productivity software including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • This position’s essential functions typically include (but are not limited to): climbing, crawling, typing, hearing, lifting, talking, vision.
  • This position will go aboard LCAC craft, climb ladders, and enter confined crawl spaces in the course of it’s essential duties.
