Educational Support Services Coordinator

University of St. Thomas, Houston


The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Educational Support Services Coordinator. This position is within the Peavy School of Nursing and reports directly to the Director of the Simulation Center and Educational Support Services.

Key Responsibilities:


Admission and Onboarding System Functions


  • Manage student tracking system that captures student documentation & reporting for our compliance needs. Duties include:
    • Required criminal, background, and drug screening for newly admitted applicants & faculty members.
    • Manage Immunization
  • Manage ongoing communication with incoming students regarding onboarding and orientation processes for all active student
  • Organizes and coordinates student placement in multiple courses and
  • Ensures compliance with mandated clinical requirements.
  • Communicates with faculty, students, and representatives from clinical partners and other institutions.
  • Assists with testing as needed (setup, proctoring, student accommodations, )

Other Duties

  • Collaborates with the Simulation Director, and Clinical faculty to support nursing students and professionals to achieve clinical learning, in a simulated patient care
  • Responsible for proper setup, reset, operation, breakdown, storage, and technical support of simulation systems, computers, manikins, and
  • Maintains and improves current knowledge of simulation software, equipment, supplies, media, computers, and materials related to simulation
  • Installs software updates on computers and maintains manikin components as directed by the manufacturer.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Simulation Center, and Educational Support Services.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related
  • Experience working with simulation equipment and software


Required Experience:


  • Minimum of three years of related experience in simulation, healthcare, or education
  • Knowledge of/familiarity with PC and MAC platforms with skill in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software
  • Knowledge of/ability to learn medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology.
  • A strong customer service orientation is vital to the success of the position
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with effective organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Results-oriented with a focus on meeting deadlines
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to function in a manner that is congruent with the School of Nursing's mission, vision, and philosophy


Preferred Experience

  • Readiness to expand knowledge in the use of clinical simulation

  • Fast pace, efficient, and student-centered clinical simulation lab environment
  • Office and simulated clinical setting
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, bending, pushing
  • Significant fine finger dexterity - to use a computer, keyboard, system interface, and apply moulage
  • Flexibility and may work some evenings and weekends
