Arlington Public Schools (APS) requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen (i.e. Pfizer, Moderna, and/or Johnson and Johnson). As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.
Human Resources announces an opening for a 0.5 FTE Educational Administrative Assistant . This is a 208 days, Grade G-7 position located at Innovation Elementary.
Performs one or more sets of the following; may not include all duties performed; not all incumbents perform all essential functions delineated:
- Performs full range of entry or full proficiency level administrative support and secretarial tasks as assigned to support the instructional program; assisting school administration, teachers, and general school operations.
- Serve as receptionist; greets all visitors, answers phones, distributes mail, etc.
- Composes routine correspondence; may prepare information and presentation packets as needed.
- Organize and maintain files.
Incumbent will be assigned specific responsibilities at the work site to support the instructional program and general school operation:
- Maintain complex student records.
- Assist the special education process.
- May serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal or Director of Counseling.
- Support specific instructional staff.
- May perform Attendance, Registration, and STARS Finance tasks).
- Ability to dispense medications to students when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of business and school office procedures, practices, and equipment; business English and office terminology.
- Knowledge of the operation, uses and capabilities of computer equipment and computer programs utilized at APS (e.g. Synergy, STAN, and STARS); including good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from high school or GED, including or supplemented by, courses in office procedures and equipment, including the use of microcomputers and teleprocessing equipment.
- Some college or business school courses preferred.
- Considerable responsible administrative assistant, secretarial or clerical experience.
- Experience working with microcomputer applications in an online environment and preferably in a school system or similar setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge, skill, and abilities.
Salary range of $29,486.08 to $53,214.72 annually based upon 22/23 pay plan.
Newly hired employees with previous experience in their field may receive salary credit for up
to five years of experience related to the job being filled.
