We are seeking enthusiastic, conservation-minded people to commit eleven months of service to protect Sierra natural resources and sustainable communities. During the year, SNAP members will gain skills and technical training, train with a mentor and outstanding environmental leaders, and receive an education award at the successful completion of service.

Job Responsibilities: The Outreach & Education Coordinator will support Development & Community Engagement Director with:
- Alliance events, monthly webinars, member group events, and general coordination of community engagement programming.
- Coordination of the Alliance’s Wild & Scenic Film festival on tour monitoring and ensuring (and completing) project tasks and timelines move according to plan and the event is successfully executed.
- Serving as an Alliance representative of the Take Care Tahoe Committee, Take Care Sierra Committee, South Tahoe Environmental Education Committee, and the South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Committee. They will also represent the Alliance at tabling and outreach events throughout the year.
- May assist with coordinating the Lake Tahoe Ambassador program and serve as an Ambassador supervisor, provide trainings, site visits to Ambassador host sites, schedule coordination, tabling at events where Ambassador presence is requested, liaison between Ambassadors and staff.
- Implementation of the Alliance’s outward messaging via social media, website management, e-newsletters, and e-blasts.
- Build and refine the organization’s brand through creating and implementing a brand and style guide.
- Keep storage unit clean and organized for outreach and other program needs.
Site-Specific Training Provided: On-the-job training will be provided to ensure that the member is comfortable with the job duties. Professional development training will be provided through the AmeriCorps program. Any additional trainings desired by the member may be brought to the supervisor for review and approval.
Things to Note: This position requires a significant amount of office and desk work. The applicant must be organized, detail-oriented, flexible, have some experience with project management, and open to feedback. Background: Since 2007, more than 397 SNAP Members have served at 40 Sierra conservation organizations and agencies to:
- Restore more than 20,000 acres of habitat
- Monitor more than 7,500 ecological sites
- Educate more than 250,000+ people
- Recruit and support more than 45,000 community volunteers
- Contribute 675,000 hours of service
Responsibilities & Projects:Members will serve full-time, from October 16, 2022 – September 15, 2023.
Applicant Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the U.S.
- Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED (higher education degrees are highly recommended).
- Must be a minimum of 18 years or older.
- Must not have a criminal history that precludes the applicant’s ability to serve as an AmeriCorps member.
- Must not have been released for cause from a previous AmeriCorps term of service.
- Must not have served more than 3 previous AmeriCorps terms of service.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Monthly stipend of $2,318.18 per month.
- Standard health insurance.
- Up to 340 hours of technical, ecological, and skills-development training.
- AmeriCorps members that successfully complete a Full-time 1700-hour service term will earn a $6,495 Segal Educational Award and a $3,505 California For All Educational Award (CFA). The latter award is considered taxable income.
