Primary responsibilities will include teaching, advising, development of program/curriculum, assessment, continuing development in the field of teacher education, and service to the University. Candidates should have the ability to teach a range of teacher education coursework courses primarily at the undergraduate but occasionally at the graduate level. Faculty is expected to participate in University governance through committee work at the University and departmental level. USM and the Behavioral Sciences Department have close, collegial faculty dedicated to a teaching-learning relationship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ability to teach a range of courses in teacher education, including mathematics and science methods.
• Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course assigned.
• Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback.
• Manage and develop courses for the education programs.
• Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy.
• Maintain office hours for student advising and mentoring.
• Timely compliance with division chair requests.
• Demonstrate professionalism with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
• Attendance at all required training, division meetings, and university-related meetings.
• Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.
• Active participation in governance and university committee(s).
• Participation in Aspire Day activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• An earned doctorate in education, preferred.
• Experience teaching at the K-6 level.
• STEM experience preferred.
• Prior teaching at the college level, preferred.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• An affinity to the mission of the University.
