JSDD's day program (WAE Center) is looking to hire a Driver/Direct Support Professional who would be responsible for safe transport of JSDD WAE Center members. Assist WAE Center members in all daily activities. Assist staff in the daily operations of the WAE Centerprogramming.

QUALIFICATIONS: Clean NJ Driver’s License. Ability to communicate well with members, families, and co-workers to guarantee quality and safety while transporting members. Good observational skills, sensitive and caring disposition. Must possess excellent time management skills.

COMPETENCIES: Creative thinker and problem solver, energetic, good listening skills, reliable, flexible, able to accept direction and take responsibility and initiative.

DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Transport members daily to and from program in a provided van.
• Filling out the daily maintenance log for assigned vehicle.
• Follow all road and driving regulations.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
• Respond in a friendly and patient manner to the needs of those being transported and their families/guardians.

DSP RESPONSABILITIES:

• Master an understanding of the WAE Center philosophy and the ability to deliver service in keeping with this philosophy
• Assist WAE Center members in all activities as necessary; may include feeding, toileting, personal mobility, etc
• Assist members in identifying and developing their full potential
• Day-to-day interaction and meaningful engagement with members, establishing significant connections with the members
• Represent a stable, predictable presence at the WAE Center
• Participate in all activities
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Management Team
• Cooperate with all JSDD, WAE Center and Division of Developmental Disabilities inspections and investigations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 per hour
