Job Profile

As Director of Product Marketing, you will have ownership of a range of marketing activities for a significant portion of the Aerospike product line whether it be the core database or an extension thereof. As product marketing owner, you will be the focal for go-to-market strategy and activities interfacing with both product management, partner/channel marketing, sales, and the entire marketing organization.

As a direct result of your product marketing efforts, you will drive market demand for your Aerospike product line as indicated by an increase in the Aerospike sales pipeline. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product and Solutions Marketing, you will work closely with your counterparts in product management, field sales, inside sales, the Director of Demand Generation, plus events and channels teams to accomplish this goal while delivering core content to position Aerospike as the thought leader in your product space.

Responsibilities

  • Craft solution marketing, go-to-market strategy, messaging, positioning, thought leadership, packaging, and naming for Aerospike products.
  • Be an expert on your customers' problems, their value drivers, how they buy, and how they evaluate critical capabilities; understand competitive alternatives and how to beat them.
  • Drive the creation of compelling and innovative sales and technical content (e.g. case studies, white papers, datasheets, blog posts, demos, customer presentations, FAQs, web content, etc.) to accelerate customer and industry awareness, and adoption of Aerospike.
  • Evangelize your product area via marketing events, webinars, social media, and other channels.
  • Connect with customers to learn first-hand their pains and interests; as a plus, get them to participate in marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and other Product Marketing team members to guide and develop the ideal content for outbound and digital marketing programs.
  • Perform ongoing competitive market analysis and enhance our arsenal of competitive weapons.
  • Work with marketing, sales, PR and enablement teams to develop comprehensive launch plans.
  • Make a measurable impact on one of the fastest-growing companies in Silicon Valley in one of its most significant industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years in product marketing.
  • MBA degree highly desirable.
  • Experience in relational or non-relational databases, specifically MongoDB, DataStax/Cassandra, DynamoDB, Aerospike, MapR, Redis, MySQL, YugabyteDB, CockroachDB, Google Spanner, CosmosDB, AWS DynamoDB.
  • Experience with streaming and analytics technologies including Kafka, Starburst, Trino/PrestoSQL, Flink, Spark, Pulsar, Elasticsearch, Google Pub/Sub and Splunk.
  • Experience with related cloud technologies and platforms including Amazon Lambda and Kubernetes Operators a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience covering any combination of product marketing, product management, product evangelism, or developer relations/marketing.
  • Subject matter expertise in enterprise software, preferably database or data management technologies.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts and technologies into enterprise-oriented and customer-centric value propositions, differentiated product positioning and messaging
  • Demonstrated experience in developing technical marketing content and/or sales enablement training and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator.
  • Ability to perform in a high-energy and highly demanding work environment where change is constant and deadlines hit fast.
  • Strong sense of team; ability to conceive, initiate and sell new ideas in a collaborative team environment.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and passionate about our ability to solve customer problems.
