We are looking for a creative and inspired person to join the Alo family as a Director of Product Development for Accessories. The candidate's responsibility will be to work on a team of talented individuals and ensure the product is built with integrity, intention and aligned with our brand vision and values.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the product development process, strong knowledge of multiple accessory categories and strategic vision to building out a vendor base to grow this critical category. As a member of the Product Development team, you will participate in developing and delivering product that supports the company strategy. Additionally, the team is responsible for ensuring that the product meets Design's aesthetic and product vision; Technical Design's construction and fit requirements; Merchandising's costing and delivery requests and Planning's order quantity.

The ideal candidate will work closely and collaboratively with the Design, Raw Material R&D, Color, Technical Design, Sourcing, Product Integrity, Planning and Merchandising teams to create beautiful and innovative product.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Strong knowledge of the product creation process from design hand off to production
  • Partner in creation of the brand strategy for the accessory product to achieve financial, quality and category goals; Build a 3-5 year product development strategy that aligns with the overarching brand strategy
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams from Design, Technical Design, Product Integrity, Raw Material R+D, Color and Sourcing to ensure on time delivery per seasonal calendar
  • Partner with Product Integrity, Raw Material and Sourcing teams to troubleshoot issues that arise during development and production; support issues to resolution
  • Manage multi-season development calendars and the follow up on all tasks related to the Product Development life cycle
  • Partner with Sourcing Manager on capacity planning by vendor; ensure the necessary capacity is reserved for bulk orders
  • Work with in-house custom's broker seasonally to confirm HTS codes
  • Responsible for Key Performance indicators that include but are not limited to system accuracy, fit approval, margin adherence and salesman sample execution.
  • Lead with Product Development team on maintaining our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system - specifically Bill of Materials based on direction from Design and cost sheets as uploaded by the vendors
  • Partner with Product Integrity team to build out testing protocols for new product categories; ensure that all products are being tested to the highest standard for our global market
  • Establish highest quality standards for all product categories and make certain that vendors understand and adhere to these standards
  • Ensure samples arrive in a timely manner for fittings and key seasonal executive meetings
  • Identify and onboard new vendors as needed based on new product categories
  • Partner with PD team and PLM Analyst on system improvements/solutions to enable seasonal execution and drive efficiencies
  • Support Seasonal Line Guide Information (setup and changes) with Marketing
  • Work collaboratively within the Sourcing organization with the Sourcing, Raw Material R&D, Color and Product Integrity teams to elevate our collective performance and meet or exceed our goals.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Will manage a team of 2; previous management experience a plus
  • Must have 10+ years of experience in the apparel industry, ideally in athletic apparel
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with appropriate sense of urgency
  • Commitment and superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment, build trust and relationships with vendor & cross functional partners
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of product cycle timeline, costing & price negotiation and product construction
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work environment
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, & Outlook
  • Proficiency with PLM and Adobe Suite- Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
