Summary
The University of Michigan Athletic Department is seeking a Director of Operations for its Swimming & Diving program. This position is responsible for assisting in all phases of the program in accordance with NCAA, Conference and University rules, regulations and policies.
Responsibilities*
Essential Functions
- Oversight of team logistics and administrative duties
- Team Travel
- Responsible for ordering and distributing equipment and apparel
- Liaison to support services
- Assist the recruiting coordinator
- Organize and execute team events
- Special projects and duties assigned by the Head Coach
- Travel to away competitions, work home swim meets
- Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules
- Hire, coordinate and supervise student managers
- Coordinate team meetings that include academic and leadership staff
Office Responsibilities
- Itinerary for pre and post meet organization
- Train managers on video logistics
- Coordinate with opposing team staff for facility use and travel plans
- Handle all requests (tickets, autographs, alumni questions, parent event and travel questions, media gudies, etc.)
- Coordinate the end of season team banquet
- Coordinate all team travel as well as opposition travel that would include: buses or vans, player per diem, air travel, hotels and meals.
- Coordinate with academic staff to when players will be out of class – class excuse forms
Assist Head Coach in all areas:
- Budget control and purchases
- Meet scheduling
- Housing of Athletes
- Facility use requests
- Practice and total meet organization
- Equipment control and ensuring student athletes have necessary equipment on hand

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer and technical skills
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines
