Summary
Responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions for the hotel. - Overall duties would include, but not be limited to:
- Assist property with the timely and secure installation, setup, and training of all systems for the opening and on-going operation of the hotel.
- Turnkey oversight, support, and maintenance of property components including server hardware and software including: File and print servers; application/web servers; database servers; Terminal Servers; SAN, Citrix and VMWare
- Ensuring all components are closely monitored and in good operating order
- Ensuring latest patches/updates (hardware/software) are tested and deployed on a timely basis.
- Ensuring data backup and disaster recovery is functioning properly and tested on a regular basis.
- Day-to-day technical support services and ensure resolutions are provided in a timely and professional manner, for all supported/centralized systems, including:
- Troubleshooting and management of all LAN/WAN/Server/Infrastructure components
- Office Automation software and collaboration tools (e.g. Google)
- General hardware troubleshooting and support
- General network troubleshooting and support
- General application (Opera, Micros, HotSOS, Alice, Birchstreet, etc.) troubleshooting and support (with appropriate vendors)
- Coordinate all hardware installation, troubleshooting and removal.
- Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by maintaining and enforcing standards/procedures.
- Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
- Analyzes business needs presented by the user community/guests and recommends technical solutions.
- Managing of third party vendors.
- Assists hotel in all aspects of deploying technology in a production environment, including coordinating with third-party vendors for required go-live components.
- Facilitates end-user staff and management training classes to ensure a smooth installation process and minimize post-installation support requirements.
- Maintains continuity of technology by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs that pertain to implementations.
- Oversight of all low voltage cabling plants and maintenance thereof
- Oversight and management of all FTG, VOD, and related television and HSIA systems at the property.
- Remains abreast of changes in user, system software and hardware requirements.
- Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
- Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
- Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with various departments.
- Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.
- Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Collaborate with staff members, customers, and other managers to determine project goals, schedules and budgets, and communicate vital information to project team members and other people involved.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and /or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently with or without reasonable accommodation.
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or experience in hotel industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Information Technology.
- Knowledge in hardware trouble shooting, software installation, telephone and voicemail system installation.
- Ability to partner and communicate well with internal and external business partners (hotels/vendors).
- Education or training in Information Technology or related or equivalent work experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft environment including Windows operating systems & office related products
- Working knowledge of non-Microsoft software applications in a pc environment, i.e. Antivirus, Reporting Software, third party tools, and remote control software
- Individual must be skilled in the purpose, procedures and requirements of basic networking.
- Individual must be skilled in understanding blue prints, network cabling and low voltage design.
- Individual must have working knowledge of the TCP/IP network protocol.
- Individual must be able to take ownership of areas of responsibility and make recommendations and decisions on the improvement and operation of those areas.
- Individual must be customer focused and have a clear understanding of their service role in the corporation.
- Individual is required to act in a professional and confidential manner.
- Individual must be able to deal effectively with a wide variety of users.
Physical Abilities:
- Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending and stooping, sitting for long periods of time.
- Repetitive hand motion (typing) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull, grasp, lift or carry equipment or tools weighting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
