Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Facilities Management works under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer on hospital departmental and construction related activities, the Vice President of Corporate Services on Health Care System issues relating to facilities management, and with the Engineering Manager, Western Group, on corporate assignments.

  • You will plan, organize, direct, communicate, evaluate and modify the activities of construction and renovations, plant operations, bio-medical, utilities, and grounds.
  • You will provide administrative leadership for Plant Operations including: program coordination within the department, liaison with other department, training of staff, professional development of supervisors and support staff, developing staff commitment to the ideals of SDGH and to high professional standards.
  • You will develop and administer budget. Compile and analyze data regarding budgets, performance workload, work scheduling and priority assignment.
  • You will assist in reviewing incoming work orders and in-house remodeling requests for appropriateness, and existing workload to establish priorities. Recommend when work should be contracted to outside vendors.
  • You will develop criteria and plans for preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance. Administers maintenance activities to ensure reliability of systems, appropriate appearance of facilities and cost effectiveness of plant operations. You will develop estimates of capital expenditures for plant operations, and for other departments as needed.
  • You will maintain all permits, notifications, corrective actions, and related documentation required for compliance with local, state and federal environmental and facility regulations. Notify administration of possible violations and recommends corrective actions.
  • You will develop and revise departmental policies and procedures and reviews annually for effectiveness. Ensure staff knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to their duties and responsibilities.
  • You will, in accordance with The Joint Commission‘s standards, be appointed Safety Officer & serves as liaison to the EOC Committee for St David’s Georgetown Hospital.
  • You will plan, evaluate, recommend and direct all construction and renovation projects on campus.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of a Bachelor Degree Program relating to Plant or Mechanical Engineering or ten years experience.
  • Five to seven years progressive responsibility in disciplines associated with Plant Engineering., preferably in a hospital setting.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the region’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David’s Neuroscience & Spine Institute. The full scope of services provided at St. David’s Medical Center includes cancer care, heart and vascular care, imaging services, joint replacement and orthopedics, women’s services, complex surgical services, and a Bariatric Surgery Center. The facility is home to a 60+ bed rehabilitation hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient comprehensive care.
