About the Job

Under the provisions of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, Urban Services YMCA was designated as San Francisco’s Community Action Agency in 2019. A Community Action Agency works to better focus available local, state, federal, and private resources to assist low-income individuals and families to acquire useful skills and knowledge, to gain access to new opportunities, and to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Urban Services YMCA is part of a national initiative to reduce poverty in communities across the country.

The Director of Community Action Partnerships ensures compliance and meeting contract deliverables of San Francisco’s Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) in partnership with:

  • Urban Services YMCA and YMCA of San Francisco’s Executive Leadership Teams
  • San Francisco’s Community Action Board made up of locally elected, private industry, and low-income community representatives
  • The California Community Services Division (CSD) field officers and state network staff
  • The California Community Action Partnership Alliance (CalCAPA)
  • The National Community Action Partnership (NCAP)
  • The National Community Action Foundation (NCAF)
  • National Peer to Peer (NPtP) ROMA Training Project
  • Certified ROMA Professionals
  • The California ROMA Coalition
  • The City and County of San Francisco

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience developing social services strategies and programs in partnership with Boards and multiple stakeholders
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with Board, fund/fiscal, and program development
  • Skills in collaborating with motivating and gaining consensus among diverse board members, staff, and partners
  • Understanding and experience promoting and discussing programs and strategies supporting vulnerable, low income and/or homeless populations.
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, development, multi-tasking, and effective time management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain detailed reports
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • High level of proficiency with Office 365 and electronic/social media outlets
  • Ability to pivot quickly when priorities shift
  • Must be available M-F; will include occasional evenings & weekends
  • Proof of COVID Vaccination
  • YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
