Director of Advancement
These are very exciting and transformational times for the recently merged Easterseals Redwood. On the precipice of our breakthrough moment as we make our way through the most ambitious philanthropic effort in our history, the $21 million Power of Work. Power of Purpose Campaign will transform not only Easterseals Redwood but the Greater Cincinnati community as well. Funds raised will create innovative programming to meet the needs of people with disabilities and their families, veterans, and people making their way out of poverty. Easterseals Redwood’s advancement department is on its way to growth like it has never known.
The Director of Advancement, integral to the advancement team, is responsible for planning, managing and implementing activities that increase, diversify and sustain philanthropic support for Easterseals Redwood from individuals, corporations, foundations and the government. Easterseals Redwood is a $25MM/year organization, with a target of philanthropic support of $3.5MM and a goal to increase 10% per year.

Primary Functions
  • Works closely with the VP, Advancement and Marketing to create a shared vision of the future and develop strategic and tactical plans for achieving increased philanthropic support.
  • Directs the advancement team by leading advancement professionals who are focused on growing relationships and philanthropic giving at Easterseals Redwood.
  • Grows and manages a portfolio of donors to enhance and increase philanthropic support by identifying prospects, researching, qualifying, cultivating, and asking.
  • Establishes and manages philanthropy budgets, operational metrics, and track and analyzes strategic results and ROI and recommends and implements changes to improve results.
  • Communicates and interacts with leadership staff in various divisions to identify needs and to collaboratively develop clear and compelling solicitations.
  • Manages change in a well-planned manner consistent with Easterseals Redwood’s culture and capability to respond to change. Work closely with marketing and events coordinator to execute special events that meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Represents the organization at community and networking events.
  • Remains calm under pressure and with tight timelines, knowing that supporter demands can be unpredictable, and stay positive and creative when plans don’t go as scheduled.
  • Possesses critical thinking and problem- solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Communicates effectively including sending the right message, at the right time, to the right people.

General Functions
  • Assists with building long-term capacity for the organization and develop and implement ideas, programs, policies and procedures based on the organization's mission.
  • Attends meetings as required by supervisor or agency.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive subject matter.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibit regular and predictable attendance and work outside of normal schedule as needed to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree required. Degree and/or coursework in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or a related field highly desirable.
  • Minimum five years in fundraising leadership with a proven track record for donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Minimum three to five years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience handling multiple demands simultaneously by organizing, prioritizing competing deadlines to achieve appropriate results, and completing work accurately and timely. Proven ability to produce high-quality results in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
  • Experience with donor database, preferably E-Tapestry.
  • A flexible schedule, including the ability to work some evenings and weekends.
