HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center

What you will do in this role:

This job encompasses our main facility, which is a 163-bed hospital, 3 professional office buildings, as well as 3 FSEDs. We have an impending tower build that will add an additional 50+ beds in next couple of years. Both our main campus and 3 FSEDs include an expansive outpatient imaging footprint. This individual would not only be the campus DFM but would also serve as the campus lead for emergency preparedness/management, as well as the environment of care officer. Applies the engineering practices throughout the N. Cypress campus, including directing and coordinating repairs and maintenance of all utility systems.

• Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed.
• Performs and assess equipment problems and delegates repairs as needed.
• Evaluates repair procedures and makes necessary recommendations to the facility COO.
• Communicates the status of the repairs to the COO as needed.
• Assigns work task to coordinator, security, Bio-Med, Telecommunications, maintenance, and engineering and insures work assignments are completed as needed.
• Ensures all daily work request are assigned and completed within the shift of request.
• Approves supply and repair orders as needed for the department, hospital, and POB.
• Approves the daily work schedule and work shift schedule.
• Ensures the supervisor and coordinator maintains shift coverage at all times and assist in scheduling operator assignments as required to maintain a functional facility.
• Ensures completion of daily time sheets and approves as needed. Forwards timesheets to the COO for approval.
• Ensure all assigned task are completed according to policy and procedure, The Joint Commission, NFPA 99, Life Safety Code 101, TDH licensing standards, and all other NFPA Codes as needed.
• Ensures all related work assignments are completed in a timely manner.
• Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
• Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies, and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties.
• Ensures that the operators provide pertinent shift report to the relieving shift operator and other maintenance staff as needed.
• Ensures appropriate follow-up by the coordinator and the lead supervisor for all incomplete repairs and makes sure the effected department is notified of the status of the repairs and the anticipated date of parts arrival and the anticipated completion date of the project.
• Participates and response to all Hospital emergencies, including, but not limited to fire, bomb threats, disaster codes, security codes, and all other emergencies as required by the COO and other department supervisors/directors.
• Considers all available options and makes appropriate decisions.
• Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies and conservation of supplies.
• Assists in the evaluation of damaged equipment during disasters and communicates with others on engineering team.
• Communicates pertinent information regarding recovery and assist with planning needs. Reports the status to the appropriate administrative staff and the COO.
• Assist with the coordination of emergency services as required by N. Cypress.
• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve Department objectives and maintain good employee relations and collaborative integration of the health care team.
• Maintains harmonious relationship with staff members, providing support and assistance to ensure quality customer service.
• Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism.
• Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet needs of the department.
• Seeks and accepts input from Directors/Supervisors regarding interpersonal relationships that affect the department's harmony and serviceability.
• Demonstrates accountability for the functionality of all hospital equipment.
• Follows established procedures for repairs of all equipment.
• Completes administrative task in a timely manner.
• Completes Preventive Maintenance in timely manner.
• Ensures documentation of all daily activities in a daily log and documentation of work orders by the coordinator and as required by the N. Cypress.
• Assist in the enforcement of safety policies and reports discrepancies to the COO.
• Ensures documentation of all safety incidents.
• Ensure ICRA requirements are implemented during construction projects. Documents risk assessment prior to the start of a project and implements ICRA guidelines, including ILSM as needed.
• Ensures documentation of all equipment repairs and evaluation of such.
• Demonstrates professional practice and conduct at all times.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
• Takes responsibility to regularly update self on knowledge of department and hospital communication and changes.
• Reports to work on time and absences are not to exceed hospital standards.
• Conducts job duties in accordance with established hospital, department, unit, and assist in developing and completing policies and procedures and standards.
• Demonstrates leadership as team leader.
• Serves as a resource to co-workers.
• Participates in unit development and problem solving.
• Communicates effectively with members of engineering team.
• Complies with legal and professional regulations.
• Demonstrates behaviors that promote teamwork within department and interdepartmentally, in order to best serve patient.
• Attends and participates in required number of staff meetings per year.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the COO.
• Participates in Performance Improvement as appropriate (i.e. data collection, quality control, etc.)

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Three to five years' experience in roles with increasing responsibility.
• Required Licensure: Operating engineers license, HVAC license, and HVAC universal certification preferred
